If it still works, somebody should be using it.
When a customer pays us to haul away an appliance that still runs, we don't scrap it. We clean it up and give it away — free — to a neighbor who needs one.
A paid pickup. A free second life.
The removal customer pays for the pickup. The giveaway winner gets the working appliance free. Generosity and landfill diversion guide what happens next.
You book a pickup
Tell us if your fridge, washer, dryer, freezer or stove still works when you book. The pickup is a paid service.
Working appliance? No recycling fee.
Appliances headed for recycling carry an environmental fee. When we pick up a working appliance to give away, we waive that fee. You pay less for removal, and we clean and test the appliance for its next home.
A neighbor gets it free
The working appliance goes to a giveaway winner in our community for free. The homeowner saves the recycling fee, a neighbor gets an appliance, and a useful item stays out of the landfill.
And if you're the one giving it up — when the appliance we're removing still works, we waive the environmental fee. It costs you less to do the generous thing.
Good things deserve another chapter.
Our mission is to make people’s lives better by giving them back their space and time. Generosity means looking beyond the pickup, too: helping useful things find a new home and introducing neighbors to local businesses.
Free appliances
When a customer pays us to haul away an appliance that still runs, it doesn't go to scrap. It gets cleaned up and goes to a neighbor who needs one. Free, delivered.
Restaurant gift cards
Funded entirely by what we get paid for scrap steel. We raffle a $100 card at a local restaurant — so the money from your old water heater ends up on somebody's dinner table.
Partner giveaways
We give away other local businesses' services — their haircut, their detail, their meal — so a neighbor gets something for free and a small business gets found. Nobody pays us for this.
Everything in the house, free
When clearing an inherited home costs more than the family can carry, we post it and open the doors. Neighbors take what they need, and the family only pays to haul what's left. Story below — it's worth reading.
It started with a house nobody could afford to empty.
A promise to help a family became a day that helped an entire community.
The homeowner had died. Their only living relative was out of town and couldn’t come back. The neighbors stepped in and promised to take care of everything.
The realtor needed the property cleared before it could be listed. The neighbors called us, and our estimate came to five truckloads. They couldn’t afford it and declined.
But helping people is why we do this, whether they hire us or not. We had another idea.
“I have an idea, but it’s a wild one.”
With their permission, we posted that everything in the house was free to the community. Come by, take what your family needs, and give those things another life. We helped facilitate the day. Whatever remained would be removed through our usual paid service.
Neighbors showed up and filled their cars. Almost everything found a new home.
Five loads became a quarter of one load.
That was all the debris the neighbors had to pay us to remove. They kept their promise, families received things they needed, and useful items stayed out of the landfill.
We’ve helped with similar giveaways since, including a local thrift store that was closing. It isn’t the right fit for every property, but sometimes generosity is the most practical solution.
Could a Community Giveback Day help?
If an estate sale isn’t an option, a full cleanout is more than you can afford, and there are useful things others could take home, call or text us. We’ll talk through whether it makes sense for your situation.
With permission, we help coordinate the giveaway. Removal of what remains is a paid service, with a price agreed before that work begins. The original home’s result is one story, not a guaranteed outcome.
Ask about a Community Giveback Day
Your old water heater buys somebody dinner.
Recycling gives the metal another use. Putting scrap proceeds toward local restaurant giveaways gives that value back to the community.
We haul your metal
Water heaters, appliances, bed frames, whatever's steel. It comes off your job like anything else.
The recycler pays us
Scrap steel is worth something. That money doesn't go into the business.
We buy a $100 gift card
At a restaurant right here in town. A local one, not a chain.
A neighbor wins it
Drawn every month. They eat, the restaurant gets a customer, and the steel gets a second life.
Three people end up better off and the only thing that changed is where the scrap money went. That's the whole trick.
A second life at the fire station.
Dunnigan Fire is remodeling its station. They entered our appliance giveaways and have won on a couple of different occasions.
They entered the drawings just like other followers. Working appliances found another place where they could be put to good use.
Generosity, counted.

The reason behind the work.
Our values are Generosity, Excellence and Landfill Diversion. This is what they look like in practice: looking for another way to help, doing the work carefully, and keeping useful things in use.
The photos on this page are shared with permission. The totals are lifetime figures, so we can keep track of our progress toward giving away a thousand working appliances.
