There are plenty of ways for a local business to get involved in its community. Sometimes the most useful starting point is a conversation: learn what an organization does, ask what it needs, and offer something you can actually provide.
This week, we’re spotlighting Fourth & Hope, which serves Woodland and Yolo County. Its work includes shelter, housing, treatment and support for people facing homelessness and other barriers to stability. With more than 40 years in the community, the organization is a local place to learn about those services and ways to help.
Empty Bowls is coming to Woodland
Fourth & Hope’s 18th Annual Empty Bowls is Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Life Pointe Church in Woodland. The event brings neighbors together for a soup lunch or dinner and a raffle. According to Fourth & Hope, proceeds support its emergency shelter program.
If you’d like to attend, start with the official 2026 event page. Follow its ticket link to check the seating choices and current details before making plans. Using the organizer’s page also makes it easier to find updated information in one place.

The contribution we’ve agreed to make
Dump Ninja has agreed to contribute a junk removal voucher for the Empty Bowls raffle, and Fourth & Hope has accepted the offer. It covers one free junk removal visit, up to one full load in our 21-cubic-yard dump truck, at no charge.
That is a specific contribution we can make through the work we do every day. We’re grateful for the chance to support the event and introduce more of our neighbors to Fourth & Hope.
A useful first step if you want to help
You don’t need to have a whole plan before learning more. Visit Fourth & Hope’s website, read about its programs, and use the organization’s own information to decide how you’d like to get involved. If you’re considering an in-kind donation, ask the organization what would be useful and how to arrange it before bringing items over.
For local businesses, the same approach keeps an offer practical: describe what you can provide, let the organization decide whether it fits, and agree on the details together. A clear, manageable contribution is a good place to start.

Thanks to the Fourth & Hope team for welcoming this spotlight. We hope it helps a few more Woodland neighbors find the event and get to know the organization behind it.
